April results

2 Long-eared Owls (Asio otus) ringed in April

As we started in the middle of April not many birds were caught. It was two not bad days with few tens of birds in the nets. In the other days they were very quiet or migrating too high. 86 individuals of 19 species were ringed. Most numerous in the nets were Red-flanked Bluetails (Tarsiger cyanurus) - 40 birds ringed.

7th season has began

Installing big Rybachinskaya trap

7^th ringing season on Baikal bird ringing station started on the 16^th of April. 17^th of April we got first birds and the first of the first was Siberian Accentor (Prunella montanella). Others are: White Wagtail (Motacilla alba), Rustic Bunting (Emberiza rustica), Pallas’s Reed Bunting (Emberiza pallasi), Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita).
